MOVE-S

School mobility analysis

  1. MMovement demands
  2. OOpportunities with peers
  3. VVariability of terrain, crowds, timing
  4. EEndurance across the day
  5. SSafety

What it solves

MOVE-S is the school mobility analysis framework. It treats mobility as a participation metric, how a student actually navigates the school, rather than a treadmill number.

When to use it

Use MOVE-S when evaluating how a student gets through classrooms, hallways, the playground, and transitions, in real conditions rather than a quiet eval room.

In practice

Map the movement demands of the day, find where peer inclusion is at stake, account for variability of surfaces and timing, screen endurance across the whole day rather than a single eval, and check safety in real contexts like hallways at passing period, the playground, and stairs.

MOVE-S is one of 14 frameworks in the Playbook
