MOVE™
Motor learning through play
- MMotivation
- OOptions (variability)
- VVolume (repetition)
- EEveryday transfer
What it solves
MOVE frames the motor-learning principles behind the activity, where PLAY frames the activity itself. Together they turn a fun session into durable learning.
When to use it
Use MOVE when planning a session. If any of the four are missing, the session will not produce learning that lasts past the room.
In practice
Motor learning needs intrinsic motivation to drive practice volume, options and variability to build adaptability, enough repetition to consolidate the skill, and a path to everyday transfer so the skill leaves the therapy room. Check all four before you call a plan done.
